About Lithgows

Lithgows Limited is an organisation whose interests range from fish farming to hi-tech engineering. Lithgows is a Scottish family owned business founded in 1874. It started out building ships in Port Glasgow on the lower reaches of the Clyde, an area that was to become the centre of world shipbuilding, and within a few years the new firm was heading the Clyde's tonnage league.

It is an organisation which has brought together some of Scotland and the World's most skilled; an organisation based on the talent and dedication of more than three hundred people on three continents.

The ancient Lithgow family crest is an otter and the Latin motto translated means "By Sea and Land" - an apt motto for the Lithgow Group. Please click on any of the three business categories for more information about the various Group Companies: Aquaculture; Engineering and Marine.

Lithgows is a business still firmly based in Scotland, but which has always served the world. Now in its fourth generation of family stewardship, this is a Global business proud of its heritage but firmly focused on the present and the future.
